B - Digital Photography
Clause 1. Know how to use your camera, what type of memory
card it takes, how to load and unload the memory card, what type
of batteries it uses and how to keep your camera clean and remove
dust and grit safely.
Understand how any special functions can help your photography.
Know how to transfer images to a computer.
Clause 2.
Know the functions of the different parts of a camera, such as
the lens and shutter.
Clause 3.
Understand the difference between digital and non-digital photography.
Discuss the positive and negative aspects of each.
Clause 4.
Produce a set of pictures showing that you understand how to store
pictures in different file formats (including JPEG, TIFF and GIF)
and how resolution and size can make a difference to the quality
of an image when viewed on screen, or when printed.
Discuss the various options for transferring a picture from digital
to print.
Clause 5.
Take a series of at least 10 photographs, on one of the
following themes:
a. Various aspects of Guiding (try to avoid the clichés!)
b. "The World Around Us"
c. "People and Culture"
d. "Get Active!"
e. "Architecture & History"
f. "Surprise yourself!"
g. A similar topic of your own choice
