I
had never tried parchment craft before - in fact, I'd never even heard
of it! At Intr@net - this year's North East England international camp
- however, there were workshops on the craft for the girls and (in the
evenings) special ones for Guiders, so naturally I went along to see
what it was all about. |
The design on card on the right is more complex in execution than that the box : it involved drawing the outline of the design in Indian ink with a fine-nibbed "dip in" pen (almost a lost art in itself!) before colouring it in on the reverse. It was then embossed: some areas are raised and some sunk in - unfortunately this does not show properly in this photograph. The
finished image was then cut to size and mounted on coloured card selected
to show the design to the best advantage, and a paper insert stuck in
for the greeting or message. |
